Large Beech Tree

This very large Beech tree was in a bit of a state.

We surveyed this tree and found large cavities at the base and so it quickly became obvious that this grand old tree would need to come down.

It was a lovely looking tree but its position, size and the advanced state of decay, meant it needed some very careful work. We adjudged it to be safe enough to climb, so we set about removing smaller limbs, gradually working upwards until we were able to bring the main trunk down in sections.

Sad to see such a lovely tree go but hopefully another can be planted in its place.
