Removing Tree Stumps
It's important that stumps are either removed or ground down to prevent regrowth and perhaps more importantly, to prevent fungal root rots that can spread amongst other trees.
When the area is to be turfed over, the stump will be ground down to well below ground level to allow laying of turf or landscaping.
We can remove the saw dust or it can be used as mulch, elsewhere in the garden or simply used to fill in the hole.
Stump Grinding in Nottingham and the East Midlands
There are many reasons why tree stumps should be ground down but in most cases it’s to avoid possible regrowth.
Other reasons for stump grinding can include...
Removal of a hazard. As stump grinding reduces the tree to ground level it's essential for a safe garden.
Unsightliness. It's very rare to find a tree stump that adds to the aesthetic appeal of a garden.
Decaying stumps can attract insects. Well some might say this is a good thing and in terms of conservation, it may well be but for most gardens, the types of insect attracted to a decaying tree stump can also cause damage to healthy trees and plants.
Disease and Fungus. Stumps can harbour disease and fungus that could spread throughout an area.
