This must have been a lovely tree in its day with deep crimson foliage in the spring and summer, turning to golden brown in the Autumn. Sadly, signs of decay were rife and it had certainly past its best, showing signs of decay in the bark and very patch foliage.
With its position in a rockery, this tree could have become unstable in the near future. We safely reduced the tree down to just above ground level. Sad to see it go but it really had reached the end of its life.
