Having seen better days this old tree only had one destiny and with some erosion of ground around the roots it was beginning to be unstable.

After it dropped one or two limbs earlier in the month, we got the call to come and take a look.

With its proximity to public areas and being on unstable ground, there was nothing else for it but to carefully remove the remaining limbs before reducing it completely.
