Felling a Decayed Beech

This grand old tree had not only outgrown its space but had become decayed

Having become too big for its surroundings and a little 'top heavy' this beech tree finally succumbed to decay and there was nothing for it but to carefully remove the branches followed by a gradual reduction of the trunk.

Sad to see it go but left any longer and it would either have dropped limbs or toppled over in storms.
