This old boy was looking very sorry for himself and so it didn't take an expert tree surgeon to know exactly what needed to happen here.

Thankfully the trunk wasn't so brittle that we couldn't climb it, so that made the job a little easier, although close proximity to garden buildings and hedges meant that we had to be careful.
